Benoit Laplante is an independent consultant and Adjunct Professor at the School of Public Policy of Simon Fraser University. His main fields of expertise are environmental economics, environmental financing, and cost-benefit analysis. He has conducted the economic analysis of large hydro-power projects in numerous countries, designed and tested market-based instruments and public disclosure programs for pollution control in several Asian countries, and supported the design of national and local environment and conservation trust funds. More recently, Dr. Laplante has provided support to various projects aiming to enhance knowledge on the economics of adaptation to climate change and has co-authored several reports and publications on this topic with the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.
