IDRC has supported research in Mali for over 35 years, almost since the Centre’s inception. The  findings from this research have led to significant improvements in crop production for small farmers, the development of evidence-based education policies, the preservation of medicinal biodiversity, and the introduction of information and communication technologies in schools and villages.

One of IDRC’s lasting contributions in Mali is in the  field of agroforestry — the study of farming systems that integrate crops or livestock production with the cultivation of trees and shrubs.
